“I will give you thanks, O LORD, with all my heart.

I will tell about all the miracles you have done.” (GW)

God has called me to use every available means to reach every available person. My heart’s desire is to, “…be faithful unto death…” Revelation 2:10 (GW). I thank God for the privilege of serving my Lord, and I thank Him for the thousands upon thousands of people who have said “yes” to Jesus all around the world through this ministry. The gospel never changes, but we must adjust how we package it. I am preaching the same message of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus alone that I have faithfully proclaimed for 45 years.

Who Are You Investing In?

I am who I am today because of the people who have invested in my life. Three of these men are still living: Dr. Myron Augsburger, Dr. Elmer Towns, and Dr. Robert Coleman, and each one is still actively involved in ministry in their mid-to-late 80s. They have blazed the trail, and my desire is to follow them as they follow Christ.

For the past seven years we have focused primarily on an open door that God provided for us with our Victory Weekend NASCAR events, and we have literally seen thousands of people come to faith in Christ. I could never have anticipated the magnificent harvest of souls! This has been one of the most demanding and difficult things I’ve ever done, both physically and emotionally, but it has also been one of the most rewarding and fulfilling!

Victory Weekend a Place of Healing – Hope in Action!

My good friend Pastor Vernon Zook, who is the lead pastor of Abundant Life Church in Sarasota, Florida and also serves as chairman of the board for Wingfield Ministries, has been helping me at many of the Victory Weekend events for the past several years. Vernon shared a young man’s story whom he was able to meet and speak with at one of this year’s Victory Weekend events:

When I was on stage talking about the suicide rate among military personnel, a 21-year-old man named Ryan began bawling. His friends surrounded him, and he continued to cry almost uncontrollably throughout the message that I gave. Ryan ended up raising his hand to make a decision for Christ. I told him from the stage that I wanted to speak with him after the band resumed playing. In talking to Ryan, he told me of how his best friend from the age of three had gone to Iraq, and after his return, he had committed suicide a few months prior to our event. Ryan said that the message I shared hit him like nothing had before, and he heard me talking about hope. He grew up Catholic and believed in God all his life, but he said, “I never realized until today how much God loves me and that He wants to help me personally.” It was a really special time, and I thank God for the opportunity to be a part of it.

Our plan is for Vernon to do most of the Victory Weekend race events in 2018 so I can focus the majority of my time at the Lodestar Mountain Inn, a place dedicated to spiritual awakening and renewal, located on 524 acres of beautiful mountain property in West Virginia. It is one of the most peaceful and scenic properties I have ever had the privilege of setting foot on. The night sky is absolutely gorgeous, and the peace and quiet that is experienced goes beyond my ability to describe.

The Vision is Becoming a Reality!

Thanks to the support of a number of friends, we have already completed construction of the first house with five bedrooms and four full baths. On October 2 we began construction on a log cabin that is being relocated to the property and will become a chapel. Once the chapel is completed, we will begin renovation of the original farmhouse, building an addition that will include six bedrooms with private bathrooms. We also plan to build four one-bedroom individual cottages. It truly is an amazing miracle of God!

Our goal is to dedicate the Lodestar Mountain Inn and have it fully functional by the fall of 2018 with 15 completed rooms. It is to be a place of healing, hope, rest, recovery, and motivation for pastors and business leaders. We will also partner with other ministries to make it available for groups of youth, young adults, and veterans.

If statistics are correct, and I believe they are, the pain that is being experienced by so many pastors in North America is off the charts. Dr. Richard J. Krejcir, lead researcher for the Schaeffer Institute of Leadership Development, published a study in 2016 in which he found that 54% of pastors work over 55 hours a week, 54% are overworked, 43% are overstressed, and 35% battle depression. These people who spend so much time lifting up others often need lifting up themselves.

Lodestar Mountain Inn:  Healing, Restoration and Miracles!

At the beginning of October, while speaking at the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove, I saw a pastor who has been a friend for over 45 years and he said, “What you are doing is so desperately needed. May God use the Lodestar Mountain Inn in major ways to bring healing and hope to many.” The sad truth is there are many who need a place like this. I am committed to doing everything I can to help as many as I can. Will you help us?

I need your prayers and support more than ever. We have already been given most of the materials needed to complete each of the remaining projects for the Lodestar Mountain Inn. What we need now is the finances to put it all together. A dear friend of the ministry has extended a $300,000 matching challenge now through December 31, 2017. Every gift will be matched dollar for dollar up to $300,000!

WAYS YOU CAN HELP:

  1. Visit. See the Lodestar Mountain Inn and let it refresh you as it has for so many people already.
  2. Pray! God is turning a big dream into an even bigger reality through your prayerful support.
  3. Give. Every gift makes a difference for God’s glory and will be matched up to $300,000 through December 31.

God has provided tremendously for this vision, and I have faith that He will finish what He has started. One of my favorite verses is Philippians 1:6: “I’m convinced that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it through to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.” (GW) I believe this verse with all my heart for our nation’s pastors, for me, and for you. God has big plans for the Lodestar Mountain Inn at Smoke Hole!

Prayerfully,

Steve Wingfield
