Christ, Our Cornerstone

This has been an amazing year and I could not be more thankful for what the Lord has done, is doing, and, I know, will continue to do as we faithfully serve Him. In 2019, we had the opportunity to host a variety of events, including several Victory Weekends, two Holy Land tours, our annual Memorial Day Community Celebration, a prison outreach in Alabama with We Care Program, and retreats at the Lodestar Mountain Inn. In addition, it has been an honor to speak at numerous churches, camps, and conferences throughout the year. Truly, Christ is the conerstone of this ministry, and worthy of the highest praises for all that has been accomplished.

The Lord continues to work through Victory Weekends, and lives are being changed and impacted by Jesus. In August, we began our 9th year of traveling to NASCAR tracks to host these events, and I am thankful for each decision for Christ. Nothing thrills me more than to hear stories of how lives have been changed through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. In the five events we held, over 15,000 people heard the message of salvation, and many said yes to Jesus. Please pray with me that God will encourage and strengthen each of these newly found believers as they grow in their new found faith.

Even though we are not fully operational, this year brought with it great excitement as we hosted our first events at the Lodestar Mountain Inn. In May, a group of Doctor of Ministry students from Multnomah Seminary (Portland, OR) spent a week at the inn. For the past number of years, I have worked with Dr. Tim Robnett, teaching a modular unit on Servanthood Evangelism at the seminary. This year, they decided to spend a week with me at the Lodestar Mountain Inn and the second week was spent in Charlotte, North Carolina, at the Billy Graham Library. What an amazing opportunity to invest in a group of emerging evangelists! There were students from Kenya, Uganda, India, and a number from the US. In addition to this, we have hosted pastors and friends at this amazing property. Our first Pastors Conference was September 26-28; 15 pastoral couples came away to be refreshed and renewed. God showed up and met their needs in some unexpected ways; it was a powerful three days. They are already planning to come back next year.

The mission of Lodestar Mountain Inn is clear – to reach those burdened by the struggles of life. Whether it be a veteran who is in trouble and contemplating suicide or a pastor who is burned out and on the verge of giving up, there are countless people who need help. I am writing this letter on the heels of another pastor suicide that I have learned of. Make no mistake about it, many are hurting and need our help, support, and encouragement. I am committed to making a difference in as many lives as possible.

Our goal is to have the Lodestar Mountain Inn fully operational by late spring of 2020. At that point, we plan to have the Event Center, our meeting and dining area, finished. To date, we have completed the Wesley Chapel, the Weaver House, four cottage units, and have nearly completed the Evangel House, allowing for 15 bedrooms. Each of these rooms will be named after people who have impacted my life through their writings or by their example. I am who I am today because of the investment others have made in my life. The official naming of the rooms will take place at the dedication of the Lodestar Mountain Inn in 2020; the date has yet to be determined. In addition to these buildings, we have added a new entrance road, three of the four ponds, and updated the landscaping.

I highly value your friendship and I am honored that you have chosen to pray for and invest in the ministry the Lord has entrusted to us. My heart’s desire is to be “faithful even unto death.” I pray you will have a blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas, and I humbly ask you to stand with us through your prayers and financial support. This ministry needs you!

In His service,
Steve Wingfield

P.S. I have received a number of international invitations to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Please pray that God will make His path clear for this ministry.
